No details... Only so much: One of my favourite nephews (I have two), needed a medium to preserve his thoughts for eternity. Thus he asked aunty to create a book. She did not need much begging...
Creatitivy is needed, which I love, but the result does not stay in my home and gets dusty... At least not in my home...
Hier ist das Tutorial und weitere Bilder:
Following the tutorial and more images:

At first you sew signatures (individual pamphlets of 6 sheets of copy paper each). Stamp, spritz and colour the paper first.

To strengthen the spine, cut strips of paper and glue them down.
Prepare a template for the holes through which a sewing thread is drawn. Place it on the middle of the open signatures and punch holes.
Stack them accurately one on top of the other.
Front and back consist of card board covered with leather (from an old jacket).
Etwas "Verzierung":
A little bit of whimsy:

Dann wird alles nach diesem Schema zusammengenäht: (Schema: Making Handmade Books, Lark Crafts, Asheville)
Connect all signatures by sewing according to this sheme: (Making Handmade Books, Lark Crafts, Asheville)

The best part comes in the end: The decoration. It should not be too accurate, but should look very old and used, as if stemming from Harry Potter's world of magic spells. The book's name is "Pensieve" as in Harry Potter's source of thoughts and memories...
Glue a piece of torn fabric onto the card board. Then fix a piece of card board which was run through an embossing machine after being painted with acrylics. The raised areas were slightly sanded and then gilded with golden patina.
The bezel comes from Tim Holtz and carries the word "Pensieve" which was printed out.

The Locker: Two old curtain holders which are connected by a chain. One of them is fixed to the back of the book.

Most recent update: Since the time when the book found its owner under the Christmas tree, my sweet nephew has already filled almost half of the pages with his thoughts. And tells me it is his most precious property...
Can you imagine how the poor little heart of an old aunty is jumping for pride?
Thank you very much for having the patience to follow me to the end! See you soon!

Hochachtung!

It is a fantastic book you made for your nephew , oh my!! it is wonderful,- love the way you covered in leather, and the front totally looks like a piece, found on a dusted ceiling- or having belonged to H.Potter in one of the moovies . I`m sure your nephew will be very thrilled recieving it and writing inside .

Simply stunning! I can imagine it is your nephew's most treasured possession... the leather - from a jacket, wow! - and the embossed texture, the beautiful papers inside - it's just an amazing piece of work, filled with love.
