Winter ade - Farewell to Winter

A new chapter. The sun is tempting to leave the house, snowdrops are blossoming, there is an air of spring around.
But before I finally bid farewell to winter, I use this snowy landscape in a suitcase to wave at the cold season for the last time.
The houses are cut from printed paper which you may find here. Styrofoam packing material was broken into pieces, glued together, given shape with the heat gun and painted. The background of the village is a painted piece of cardboard cut to fit into the suitcases lid.
Hubby used this opportunity to dig out his childhood's steam engine and to make this whimsy environment a little more realistic. That's what he said. Actually he was just dying to play with his railway set.

What a wonderful winter scene inside that fantastic vintage suitcase. The snowy sky in the background is the perfect backdrop, and I love that your husband got to play with his trains too!! Delightful. I shall be sending along my dollshouse-collector mother (Cestina) to have a look too!

Thank you for your comment! It was a nice surprise :).

When I first saw the pictures I thought it were bought houses/scenery! Can you safely store it in the suitcase? Or do you make a new one each year? Great that your husband got involved too. It's a lovely scene, but I'm getting cold because of it :P (ok, and because of being tired). I sure hope spring shows itself soon!

Oh , what a scenery of beautiful houses, laying there in the hills, with the snowfilled trees and the train station near. Your painted sky is so beautifully painted, dearest Manu, and everything looks so piecefull and lovely. A little idyllic and sweet town. So much work has gone into building it, I`m sure, but also a lot of fun. Manu you are creating the most wonderful sceneries, wheter it be towns like this or ferrie houses and I love it all. Thank you for showing us,- here the sun has also been shining today, but this morning there was ice on the birds water, so spring is not that near on the island !
I wish you a wonderful weekend, my dear , hugs from Dorthe .
